Prof. Dr. Nikolai Kornev
Chair of Modelling and Simulation, University of Rostock, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Marine Technology

Prof. Nikolai Kornev studied fluid mechanics and graduated from the Marine Technical University in St. Petersburg, Russia. He got the Dr. Ing. degree in 1988 and defended his habilitation in 1998. He had research stays as a Humboldt research fellow at the Technical University Braunschweig (1995-1997), Korea Resarch Instite KRISO (1995), North Caroline State University (2005) and Nagoya University (2014). Since 2001 Prof. Kornev is working at the University of Rostock. Since 2010 he leads the Chair of Mathematical Modeling and Simulations (LeMoS) in Mechanical Engineering and Marine Technology. His group is dealing with numerical simulations of various problems of fluid dynamics and heat and mass transfer in different media. One of the recent scientific research fields of LeMoS is the application of thermodynamic and fluid dynamic models for simulation of interaction in a system human-cloth-environment, which is successfully developed within framework of different industrial projects.
